Baking enthusiasts across the county could soon have a new magazine with the help of a Crowdfunder campaign.

With thoughts still fresh from the success of the recent Great British Bake Off, three Cornish businesswomen hope to launch the first issue of Gorge! in the New Year.

The magazine will showcase the best that Cornwall has to offer in terms of places to eat and drink, recipes, baking hints and tips, how to guides, interviews with the professionals and more.

Managing editor of Gorge!, Suzie Smith, felt the time was right to launch the publication.

She said: “Baking is a passion for so many people that is not about to burn out any time soon. I came up with the idea for the magazine because as an avid baker myself I wanted to read about baking, bakers and the amazing produce on my doorstep – but there was nothing out there like it.”

She has joined forces with graphic designer, Liz May, and marketing manager, Helen Rowe, who between them have decades of publishing experience.

Both Smith and Rowe also run small baking businesses alongside their other professional careers.

“The response from advertisers and supporters so far has been overwhelming,” added Smith. “With the likes of Cornish Tea, Cornishware, the Polrurrian Hotel and Baker Tom already support our crowdfunder campaign, we’re sure the magazine will be a success.”

The money to finance the first issue of Gorge! is being raised through a Crowdfunder campaign, which encourages members of the public and businesses to pledge money for rewards.

The Gorge! Crowdfunder campaign runs until November 19 and pledges can be made by clicking here.
