A firm of independent financial advisers is doing its bit for the environment by taking part in a project which sees confidential waste paper shredded on site before being transferred for recycling.

In the past year, the amount of confidential waste collected and shredded from Worldwide Financial Planning in Truro through the Shred-It scheme, has equated to the paper from 41 trees.

Worldwide director, Neil Chamberlain, said: “The financial industry produces a lot of paper, which is all part of the compliance process.

“These can be letters, statements, brochures and other documents, so we need a lot of space for filing.

“Over the last few years we have constantly improved our systems and worked with the industry to reduce the amount of paper that we receive.

“It’s not always possible, so we work with Shred-It to ensure that old waste is disposed of correctly and confidentially.

“An added bonus of that is Shred-It’s commitment to the environment, which echoes our ethos, and means that trees are being protected.”
