South west accountancy firm Francis Clark LLP has strengthened its agricultural services division with the promotion of rural business expert Brian Harvey to partner.

Cornish-born Harvey joined Francis Clark in 2003, and over the past ten years has played a key role in the growth and success of the firm’s Truro-based agricultural team.

A member of the ICAEW Farming and Rural Business Group and the ICAEW Audit and Assurance faculty, Harvey specialises in financial accounting and taxation issues including IHT, CGT and succession planning for rural businesses and is also highly experienced in statutory auditing and reporting.

Speaking after his appointment as partner, Harvey said: “Francis Clark is a firm I am proud to be a part of and I feel fortunate to have been given a great opportunity to put more back into the Cornish farming community.”

Robert Cowie, Francis Clark partner and head of the agricultural services team in Truro, said: “Brian’s appointment is tremendous for the team. Not only is he a highly experienced adviser for our agricultural clients but he is also a respected and well known member of the Cornish farming community.”

Truro partner Andrew Allen, who was involved in Harvey’s recruitment in 2003, added: “When we first interviewed Brian we could immediately see that his experience and empathy with the rural community in Cornwall would make him an invaluable asset to our clients.

“It is truly rewarding to see people like Brian join our firm and progress their careers over time, and it is particularly pleasing for me to see a fellow west Cornishman establish a rewarding career for himself in the county.”
