The Driftwood Spars is the only Cornish pub to have been shortlisted in the competition, having made the final six in the Best Cask Ale Pub category.

It is now set to go head to head with other pubs from Derbyshire, Hampshire, Tyne and Wear, Suffolk and the West Midlands.

Louise Treseder, landlady for the pub said: “We were delighted and honoured to have made the shortlist, especially in this category which is so highly coveted.

“Cask ale is what we are about at the Driftwood, and we are proud of our reputation and commitment to great beer.”

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony to be held on London on September 12.
