A new sustainable development at the Duchy of Cornwall Nursery is today being officially opened by the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall.

The Lostwithiel-based nursery’s new building, shop, café and gardens will become a showpiece for the Duchy estate, which was created almost 675 years ago.

The nursery manager, Angie Coombs, said: “This amazing new building allows people to spend more time at the plant nursery getting gardening advice as well as browsing in the new shop.”

The sustainable development, made using Douglas Fir, Larch and Cornish cob, was constructed by south west firm Midas Construction Ltd.

It will create seven permanent jobs, plus a range of part-time positions.
