West Cornwall MP Andrew George has written to Fisheries Minister Richard Benyon MP asking him to step in to protect Cornish Mackerel handliners from penury following a “back door” deal which could remove their rights to fish ‘til next year.
Mackerel handlining is a seasonal fishery and is traditionally most productive during the autumn.
George said: “The loss of previously promised quota will cause anger and hardship.”
