Cornwall Council has welcomed the news that bathing water quality, tested at 81 beaches across the Duchy, is the best on record and that all have met or exceeded tough bathing water standards.

The results released today (Nov 8) show that water quality at 78 beaches in Cornwall is excellent or good with four more beaches than last year achieving the excellent classification. None of the water quality at beaches tested was classified as poor.

Cabinet member for the environment, Joyce Duffin, said: “All the agencies have been working together to improve water quality on our fantastic beaches which are so important to local residents as well the increasing numbers of tourists who visit from the rest of the country and around the world.

“We can proudly say that all of our bathing water beaches meet or exceed the exacting standards.”
