There were a number of Cornish winners at last night’s VisitEngland national tourism awards – Awards for Excellence 2016.

Treworgey Cottages in Looe was named Self Catering Holiday Provider of the Year, while Trevose Harbour House in St Ives and Railholiday in Saltash both took Gold in the Bed & Breakfast and Sustainable Tourism categories.

The Dining Room in Rock was awarded Silver in the Taste of England category, while there were Bronze accolades for Bude’s Whalesborough Cottages (Self Catering Holiday Provider) and Pebble House in Mevagissey (Bed & Breakfast).

The UK’s most westerly hotel, Hell Bay Hotel on the island of Bryher in the Isles of Scilly, was the only hotel from Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to reach the finals and took Bronze in the Small Hotel of the Year category.

Padstow Touring Park (Holiday Park), the Rising Sun in Truro (Tourism Pub) and Wheal Martyn (Small Visitor Attractions) were all Highly Commended.
