Julianne Shelton: “Confident” for 2016

A luxury holiday lettings specialist is feeling confident that business in 2016 will be even better than this year’s record breaking season.

Cornish Gems is reporting gross holiday income for property owners this year to be up more than £1 million on 2014.

And advanced sales for the year ahead are up 30% on this point last year.

Managing co director, Julianne Shelton, said: “We are feeling confident about this advantageous position for 2016.

“There are a number of reasons for this early success, the biggest being the significant level of repeat bookings we are now generating for our much loved portfolio of Cornish Gems.

“This particularly high level of repeat business comes partly from guests that repeatedly stay in their favourite ‘gem’ or those that like to sample new properties each time they stay with us.”

With excellent results comes high expectation, as Cornish Gems experienced during the summer 2015 period.

“One trend we have noticed this year is the shift in expectation of our clients,” added Shelton. “When you are selling a luxury brand, it’s a given that customer expectations will be high, but this year the expectation levels of our clients has remarkably shifted up a notch.

“Therefore, we are in the process of further developing our customer department with the recruitment of two full time customer service and operations assistants. We’ve recently extended the deadline for applications to Monday, October 12.

“As an Investors in People silver accredited company, one of our many business strategies focuses on ‘continuous improvement’.

“With this in mind, we are in the midst an internal audit of our Quality Assurance processes to further enhance our service for guests and owners alike – which will see some new positive changes emerge shortly.”
