A luxury holiday letting specialist is celebrating its eighth year of trading with a move into larger premises and a new venture across the Tamar.

Cornish Gems has been operating in the higher end of the holiday lettings market since its launch in 2007, and is now taking this model into Devon with the launch of Devon Gems – luxury holidays by the sea.

The expansion has been a year in the planning, with the decision to go ahead subject to careful market research.

Julianne Shelton, who runs the business with fellow managing co-director, Nadia Macer-Wright, explained: “Cornish Gems has provided a high standard of self-catering accommodation in what is a sought-after destination for luxury travellers from the UK and abroad.

“Devon has all the right ingredients for the high-end holiday maker and we are thrilled to be in the position to offer our robust service to property owners who aspire to this top end of the market.”

And as a result of the company’s continuing growth, it has moved into larger premises on Threemilestone Industrial Estate, on the edge of Truro.

Macer-Wright added: “The new office, the expansion into Devon and other current initiatives such as the redevelopment of bespoke quality standards (Gem Ratings) for our properties, demonstrate our ambition to excel within our industry by continuously striving for excellence.”

The hunt is now on for luxury holiday properties in Devon located by the sea.

“There are plenty of fantastic locations and properties with that ‘wow’ factor,” said Shelton.

“We have the brand, resources, marketing spend and a significant guest database – providing property owners access to a valuable target audience as well as expertise in helping them realise the true potential of their rental property.

“We already have one property in the portfolio, a stunning water-side villa in the heart of Salcombe, and cannot wait to add more to the list. We’re looking forward to meeting owners in Devon over the upcoming months.”

A full company profile on Cornish Gems appears in the September issue of Business Cornwall magazine.
