While there are a number of contributing factors, the positive effect on repeat bookings as a result of the exceptionally good weather experienced in the summer of 2013 should not be ignored.

It’s not just the peak summer season that’s being booked well in advance, with reported increases in bookings for the shoulder months of May, June, September and November.

MD of Classic Cottages Anthony Skitt said: “We are very pleased with the results so far this year with bookings currently over 10% up on the prior year. We are also pleased that this increase is spread across the entire year and not just focused on the key summer weeks, an indicator that we are continuing to attract a wider audience.

“Pre-school families, couples and the German market are all helping to extend season length, which is very helpful for our business but also very encouraging for tourism in the West Country.”
