Launched in 2006, the festival celebrates life on and around the river Fal and featured over 150 events over ten days.

Highlights included the Fal Fish Festival, The RNLI’s Castle to Castle Swim, 3 Choirs in a Garden, the Beer Fleet, day sailing on the tall ship the Bessie Ellen, the annual abseil down the National Maritime Museum tower for BF Adventure and the Around Roseland Adventure Race.

There was also an increase in the number of arts and cultural events taking place this year with the festival team working closely with Falmouth University.

Fal River Festival’s, Tommy Tonkins, said: “The festival has become established as must-do in the half-term week for locals, as well as families visiting Cornwall from around the UK.

“As well as offering a wide range of activities, the festival provides a fantastic showcase for this area of outstanding natural beauty.

“It also provides a huge boost to the local economy across all sectors, including tourism, before the season gets under way fully.”

Plans are now underway for the 2014 festival.
