Demolition work will begin next week on the remains of the Best Western Falmouth Beach Hotel, which was devastated by fire at end of April.

Following extensive site assessments on what is left of the hotel’s structure, it has been decided that it is too badly damaged and should be demolished.

Work is expected to take six weeks.

General manager, Ryan Ohly, said: “While it’ll be very sad to see the old building go, we can now focus on creating a new hotel.

“The hotel will be demolished bit by bit in seven sections. The debris will be dampened to limit the release of dust as much as possible and no work will be carried out on weekends or Bank Holidays.”
