Newquay Town Council is this week hosting a civic briefing on the importance of tourism to the local economy.
Invited guests to the event on Friday (March 9) include MP Steve Gilbert, Cornwall Council economy portfolio holder Chris Ridgers, town councillors and the board of the Newquay Business Improvement District (BID).
The presentation will also include an update on VisitNewquay – the official destination and resort marketing for Newquay including the new 2012 Newquay Holiday Guide.
VisitNewquay is also organising the first VisitNewquay Tourism Summit at the Lighthouse Cinema on Thursday March 15 (10am-3.30pm).
The summit is free to attend for all tourism businesses in the town and is aimed at giving full updates on the marketing and promotion of Newquay, by both VisitNewquay and the Newquay BID.
Any businesses in the town and surrounding area who wish to attend the VisitNewquay Tourism Summit can register by email.
