The Fal River Visitor Information Centre (VIC) has received a cheque from the National Maritime Museum after a bumper year of referring visitors.

L-R: Amy Glover and Michael Sweeney from the Maritime Museum present the cheque to Jowan Rogers, Emily Caulfield, and Nicola Kneebone from Fal River Visitor Information Centre

The payment is part of a joint initiative where every visitor referred to the Maritime Museum by the VIC receives a 10% discount on their ticket.

The VIC then receives a 10% commission on that sale, which for its work since reopening last August, earned it £283.72, equating to approximately 300 visitors.

Information centre manager Nicola Kneebone said: “We are delighted with the results of this discount scheme. Being able to give our customers an added incentive to visit one of Cornwall’s major attractions has created an extra source of revenue for the centre. With such a good return after only a few months, we are confident 2012 will be even better.”
