A seminar designed to help boost the quality of visitor information in the Fal River area is being hailed a success.

Cornwall Ferries' MD, Tim Light, launches the Fal River Visitor Information Centre seminar

The event, which took place at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall, was organised by the Fal River Visitor Information Centre (FRVIC) team.

The seminar featured a series of short lectures from over 30 visitor service providers and covered winter events, including the Oyster Festival, Fal River Autumn Walking Festival and Christmas markets, to attraction opening times, public transport services, Fal River Links and the activity providers.

Fal River marketing manager, Toby Budd, said: “We really want to improve the quality of visitor information and therefore the visitor experience.

“So we wanted to get everyone together and share information about what we all have planned for the next six months.”

It was the first of two planned events, with the second one taking place in the spring.

Nicola Kneebone, manager of the recently reopened Falmouth Visitor Information Centre said: “The key benefits we wanted to get from the seminar were to provide local tourism and hospitality businesses with all the current and relevant information they need.

“Feedback has been fantastic and we already have a number of speakers confirmed for next years event.”
