Air Southwest is making its seats available on the global distribution reservations system (GDS) as part of a strategy to broaden its sales channels.

GDS is used by travel agents across the world, and the airline hopes the move will give it greater visibility among potential customers and corporate travel bookers.

Commercial director Mike Coombes said: “The increased exposure of our year-round scheduled services is good news for us, our customers and Cornwall.

“Although our website will remain the main route for people to book, GDS means our flights are globally accessible and we’re confident it will boost traffic to the region.

“It’s particularly important for our customers through international hubs like Gatwick because it means they have access to our route network through so many new channels, including High Street travel agents.”

Air Southwest is Newquay Airport’s largest operator, flying year-round services from a range of cities across the UK and Ireland.
