Restrictions on the new helicopter service from Land’s End Airport to the Isles of Scilly were lifted over the weekend.

Island Helicopters had been operating a reduced service since launching on May 21 while the Council for the Isles of Scilly carried out an environmental assessment.

That assessment was completed at the end of last week and following discussions with Natural England, the Council gave the green light for the full scheduled operation to start on Saturday (June 9).

Stuart Reid, chief operating officer at the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group, which operates Island Helicopters, said: “We’re delighted to have been given the green light by the Council and look forward to providing a full scheduled service from Land’s End Airport to the Isles of Scilly.

“We’ve had terrific feedback from customers about Island Helicopters so far and it’s great to see helicopters flying to the islands again after an absence of six years.”
