Cornwall Airport Newquay has announced further month on month passenger growth.

The latest figures show that the airport handled over 50,000 passengers in July, making it the busiest (July) month since 2009.

The figure is a 63% increase on the same month last year, cementing the airport’s position as the fastest growing in the UK.

MD, Al Titterington, said: “The airport is such a vital lifeline for Cornwall and its economy so it’s great to see that demand remains high following the Brexit vote and that more and more people are benefitting from the increased routes and capacity to and from Cornwall Airport Newquay this year.”

Adam Paynter, Cornwall Council’s cabinet member for resources, added: “This is more good news for Cornwall Airport Newquay which is a key part of our transport infrastructure.

“I am delighted to see the continuing increase in passenger numbers which demonstrates how well the connections to more destinations are working.”
