Camborne businesses have voted for a second term as a Business Improvement District.

After a month-long period of voting, 57% of member businesses – representing 75% of the rateable value – elected to remain as a BID.  165 votes out of a possible 292 were cast, a voting turnout of 56.5%.

The new five-year period will begin on April 1 and over £500k will be invested in Camborne during that time.

BID manager, Mel Martin, said: “We’re absolutely delighted that a clear majority of eligible voting businesses recognise the huge benefits that being a BID has brought and we’re now looking forward to delivering the aims set out in our 2017-2022 business plan.

“It’s a fantastic result that will have a big impact on the town.”
