New BID board elected

A refreshed team to lead the future of St Austell’s Business Improvement District has been elected at the recent AGM.

The new board of BID directors are drawn from levy payers in the town centre as well as the town council and St Austell Bay Chamber of Commerce. At the BID’s AGM, nine directors were reappointed and six new ones were appointed.

Ally Watkins (Nature Kitchen), Daniel Nancarrow (Moustache Jacks), Hayley Newton (Bits & PCs), Roberto Cubeddu (Speranza Printwear & Embroidery), Ameena Williams (The White Hart Hotel and Hop & Vine).

Giles Bingley (Wills Bingley Chartered Accountants), Annette Miller (Burton House Enterprise Centre), Noel Krishnan (Nepalese Gurkha Restaurant), Mark Torr (Café Tengo), Richard Hurst (White River Shopping Centre).

The town council is represented by town clerk, David Pooley and the Chamber of Commerce by Mark Lewis of Lewis Estate Agents.

At a subsequent board meeting, John Kneller was elected chair and Ameena Williams vice chair.

Kneller said: “We’ve made a lot of progress over the past year, and we’re now excited to move forward with some fantastic new initiatives that will deliver genuine value to BID levy payers and help towards delivering improvements to our town centre for everybody.”

Meanwhile, St Austell BID is looking for a new manager, after the announcement that Carl Lamb is moving to a new role as manager of the St Ives BID.
