Thriving Wadebridge-based craft co-operative, Winifred & Mabel, celebrates its first birthday this week, with a free craft day.

Taking place at the shop on Saturday, February 28 between 11am and 4pm, visitors can try their hand at felt flower making or have a go at freehand machine embroidery, which is effectively drawing with a sewing machine.

Sarah Pascoe-Beard, who co-owns the shop with business partner Karen Davey, said: “We’ve achieved a lot in our first year, and had so much local support, which is why we wanted to do something everyone could enjoy and try out for themselves.”

Davey added: “Being shortlisted for a social enterprise award from national magazine Mollie Makes, plus having a pop up shop outside 10 Downing Street as part of Small Business Saturday have been some fantastic highlights for us this year.

“The exposure we got from this has also been invaluable, really helping to put us on the map as ambassadors for small businesses. I’m sure the next 12 months will be just as eventful.
