Happy birthdayay Archie Browns!

Truro health food shop and vegetarian restaurant Archie Browns celebrates its first birthday next month with a week-long programme of special events.

Running from Monday September 28 through to October 3, Archie Browns will host giveaways, competitions and guest talks from suppliers. Manager Felicity Spiers explained: “The first year has been really exciting; it’s been great getting to know Truro as a city and as a place to trade.

“Despite the gloom of the recession we have had improved sales and have gone from strength to strength, we have had to diversify from some of our original ideas to better suit the Truro market and have found ourselves holding cookery classes and various talks which have gone down a storm.”

Archie Browns originally started as a small vegetarian café in Penzance over 11 years ago and grew to incorporate a health food shop as the demand for healthy eating and diversity grew. It was after ten years of trading that the second Archie Browns was planned and Truro became the chosen destination.

On Monday 28th from 9.30am-1pm, Jen from Higher Nature, a natural supplement company, will be giving a talk on the benefits of omegas on the diet and cooking scrumptious healthy brownies, and from 2pm -5pm Faye from Pukka Teas will be giving a talk on their herbal blends. On Wednesday the 30th from 10am-2pm Peter from Viridian will be talking about nutritional oils and doing tasters.

The week will be rounded off with live music from Audible Thieves, canapés and competitions on Friday 2nd, starting from 19.00 until 23:00, all welcome. The shop will be open for you to browse and buy.

A raffle will be running throughout the week which will include lovely products and treats from Spiezia, Viridian, Higher nature, Carleys and Cornish Orchards. All proceeds will be shared between Archie Browns’ three charities; WaterAid, Sharda and Restaurants Against Hunger.
