Cornwall Council will meet tomorrow to ratify the recommendation that Andrew Kerr should become the unitary authority’s new chief executive.

The member selection and appointment of chief officers panel unanimously named Kerr, who is a former chief executive at Wiltshire Council and current chief operating officer at Cardiff Council, as its preferred candidate.

This recommendation will now be considered by all members at the meeting of the full council tomorrow (October 22).

Chairman of the panel, Fiona Ferguson, said: “There was a very strong field of candidates but I am pleased we have been able to make a unanimous recommendation.

“On behalf of the panel I would like to thank all the stakeholders and officers from the Council for their support in helping us to make this vital decision.”
