The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) is inviting businesses to take part in a live webcast later this month to mark the official launch of its economic strategy.

The strategy has involved input from hundreds of local businesses and will set the future direction for economic growth in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly for the next eight years.

It will be launched via a live webcast on Thursday June 28 at 11am  with LEP chairman Chris Pomfret. There will also be a short film featuring a number of successful businesses from Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly that reflect the key points of the strategy.

This will be followed by an hour-long webchat with Pomfret and fellow LEP board member Simon Tregonning, who is chairman of Helston-based Classic Cottages. Questions for them about the strategy can be emailed in advance and live on the day.

Pomfret said: “The strategy has been a year in the making and we’ve spoken to around 250 local businesses individually and through the 15 roadshows we took around Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly earlier this year.

“We received almost 100 responses to the draft strategy we published in May and have been very encouraged by the positive and constructive response from the business community.”

The strategy is focused around four main themes – business growth, skills, knowledge and the environment. Priorities include inspiring all businesses to reach their national and global potential; creating great careers; creating value out of knowledge and using the natural environment responsibly as a key economic asset.
