With the October 31 deadline for paper tax returns just weeks away, HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) is urging people to get their paper tax returns in on time, or face a penalty.

Around 112,000 in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly are expected to fill in a self assessment return this year, but will face a £100 penalty if paper returns are received on or after November 1.

If you send your tax return online, you get an extra three months to send it, with a deadline of January 31.
