St Austell Printing Company (SAPC) is developing its next generation of printing experts with the appointment of two apprentices.

Lucy Everett (18) and James Richards (17) have joined SAPC through an apprenticeship scheme facilitated by the British Printing Industries Federation (BPIF).

Everett has joined as an apprentice print operator and Richards as an apprentice bindery assistant. They are the only BPIF apprentices in Cornwall.

Operations manager, Beth Mayman, said: “We’re very pleased to welcome Lucy and James to the team. Both have settled in well and are already showing a significant amount of development in a short space of time. These are skilled jobs that will offer excellent long-term careers and opportunities.”

Richards joins SAPC straight from school, while Everett recently completed a photography course at Cornwall College.

MD, Peter Moody, added: “As a family-run company with a commitment to both our local economy and the manufacturing sector in general, we feel it’s important to support local talent and develop the next generation of printing experts.

“Since moving into our new factory five years ago, we’ve won a number of remarkable contracts and continued to grow our team. James and Lucy are valuable additions and it’s great to see them both already developing well.”
