Local manufacturer and distributor, WISKA UK Ltd, has secured £70k of investment through the Cornwall Marine Capital Fund.

The funding will further fuel WISKA’s growth plans and see up to eight new jobs created over the next two years.

MD, Will Rich, said: “This investment has principally allowed us to move to larger premises and purchase equipment: all crucial for our five year strategy that will see us increase our share of existing global maritime markets plus tap into new markets including marine renewable energy.”

The new St Columb Major-based site will also provide an important facility in which to train staff, including the further development of WISKA UK Ltd’s apprenticeship programme.

Alex Lake, senior project executive at Cornwall Marine Network (CMN), said “It is great to help finance growth at a Cornish business that brings money into our county through its activities; ultimately providing much needed higher-wage jobs in Cornwall, a real boost for one and all.”

CMN is managing the Cornwall Marine Capital Fund which is powered through the Regional Growth Fund: a government backed scheme. Local investment in marine businesses is forecast to exceed £1.7 million.

WISKA UK LTD is a single source supplier of lighting and electrical installation equipment which is used in maritime applications across the globe.
