The Cornwall Manufacturers Forum (CMF) has received almost £100k from the Ownership of Skills Fund, a Government-backed scheme to help deliver tailor made training for businesses across the UK.
The training in the Duchy will be delivered by Cornwall College Business (CCB), which has devised bespoke training plans following discussions with CMF members.
Eric Nicholls, MD of Spiral UK, a CMF member, said: “We were one of only a few SMEs to bid for funding and we were up against companies like Rolls Royce and British Aero Space.
“Through this we will be able to provide specialist training in digital marketing, CAD design, engineering apprenticeships and continuous improvement.
“We are working with Cornwall College Business and we have been able to go to them and say this is what we want, rather than being told this is what we need. It’s also enabling us to gain the real specialist training that we need.”
