Printing of the West Briton and Western Morning News, along with several other south west newspapers, is moving up country with the loss of 95 jobs.

The titles are currently printed in Plymouth, but owner of the press, Daily Mail and General Trust (DMGT), has cited unused capacity at the plant and that its closure will help cut group costs.

The closure will signal the end of 150 years of printing newspapers in the city. The Derriford plant also prints the Exeter Express and Echo, Herald Express, Plymouth Evening Herald, Mid Devon Gazette, North Devon Journal, The Cornishman and Cornish Guardian.

In future, these titles will be printed at sites outside the region, believed to include Oxfordshire and London.
