A flat pack furniture company that employs 120 people in Redruth has gone into administration.

Administrators for The Furniture Factory, which has a head office in Somerset and other sites across the country, said the company had “encountered trading difficulties” and was looking to sell the business.

The firm, which manufactures flat-pack furniture and kitchens for a number of high street retailers, had an annual turnover of £57m in 2007.

And this is not the only bad news to hit Cornwall on the jobs front. Rock-based boat builder Select Yacht Group has ceased trading and made more than 20 members of staff redundant. Liquidators Francis Clark said other businesses were interested in some of the firm’s assets and some products could be resurrected.

And finally, Devon-based building company Rok is shedding some 750 posts across the country, including some 30-40 positions at offices in Devon and Cornwall.
