Porthcurno Telegraph Museum is to receive an award of £150K through the Government’s Coastal Communities Fund.

The money will go towards the museum’s multi-million pound project – ‘Developing for the Future’.

The two-phase project will provide improved visitor facilities, a new cafe, a new learning centre and new exhibitions.

This latest award by the Coastal Communities Fund will also help to fund new full and part-time posts related to the project, including the recently-appointed community participation officer. The project is also creating new opportunities for volunteering and additional indirect employment.

“We are delighted by news of the Coastal Communities Fund award,” said development project manager, Henrietta Boex.

“For 140 years Porthcurno was an important hub of global communications and known internationally. Our project aims to tell this story but also to spread the benefit of development to local communities through opportunities for enjoyment, learning, volunteering and employment.”
