Truro-based chartered accountant and business adviser Winter Rule has taken the majority of the client base of Williams & Co, an accountancy firm based on the Roseland Peninsula.

It follows the death earlier this year of Williams & Co founder Maurice Williams, who ran the business at Ruanlanihorne near Ruan High Lanes as a sole practitioner following the earlier retirement of his brother Eric who survives him.

Winter Rule chairman John Mitchell explained: “We’d known Maurice for many years and when he fell ill in January we provided some help during the busy tax return period to ensure that his clients’ needs were serviced.

“Sadly Maurice passed away shortly afterwards and we were asked by his brother Eric, who is executor of the estate, whether we wished to take over the clients of the practice. Eric was concerned that Maurice’s clients continued to receive the quality personal service that Maurice was known for and knew that Winter Rule would be able to deliver this.

“Since then we’ve been meeting and contacting clients and the majority have decided to come across to Winter Rule. Most of them are private clients or small businesses based on the Roseland and we look forward to advising and supporting them in the years to come.”
