Quantity surveyor and construction consultancy Taylor Lewis has been bought out by its management.

The MBO team of Steve Foxon and Ben Couch were supported by Lewis Banfield from Francis Clark and James Keliher from Stephens Scown.

The business, with offices in Exeter and Truro, was started by Alan Lewis in 1992 with Chris Lowe joining as a partner in the late 1990s. Foxon joined the business in 2004, and Banfield in 2005.

Taylor Lewis provides a range of services, acting as quantity surveyors, employers’ agent, CDM co-ordinators, CSH assessors, building surveyors, retail project managers and contract administrators. It provides these services to the social housing, healthcare, retail, education, leisure, commercial and private development sectors throughout the south west.

Key recent projects have included The Docks at Exmouth and a project of 144 sustainable dwellings in Torquay. The Cornwall team is currently working on a package to deliver over 230 units across a range of sites.

In the past year Taylor Lewis has shown 15% growth and its new owners are planning for similar growth in 2010 and 2011. It employs 15 members of staff and is currently recruiting an additional surveyor to support the expanding business in Cornwall.

Foxon commented: “The purchase of an established, well respected business like Taylor Lewis represents a fantastic opportunity for Ben and me. We are looking forward to building on the good reputation that the former owners have established over the last 18 years.”
