New beer needs a name

Cornish entrepreneur Stephen Burton has developed a new beer. The only problem is he doesn’t have a name for it.

Burton, MD of St Austell-based microbrewery Green Room Ales, said: “After the way our first drink was welcomed into the market this year we thought we’d develop some more exciting ciders and beers. So as well as increasing our range of ales we wanted to do something different to compete with the larger mainstream breweries. We wanted to produce a beer that both lager and ale drinkers would appreciate but with a fuller taste than what’s currently produced by other firms.

“We couldn’t think of a name for the new beer that does justice to the great taste. “We then thought what better way to develop a name than to get the people who would buy the drink to get involved. So we’ve launched a competition to name the new beer.

“As far as we know this is a first, offering up a new brand to be named via a competition but we’re really excited about hearing people’s ideas. Imagine walking into an outlet and seeing the drink you named on sale plus winning a year’s supply of it.”

The beer should be on sale across the county before Easter ready to be enjoyed in the summer.

Burton has also launched a Facebook page to generate some interest and support for the competition.
