Cornish bakery WC Rowe has acquired a new 12,500 sq ft facility adjacent to its existing production site in Falmouth.

The purchase represents a major investment in Rowe’s future as one of Cornwall’s largest private sector employers. Director of marketing Paul Pearce said: “We’re incredibly pleased to have captured this fantastic opportunity to expand. 2009 will undoubtedly hold challenges for us as it will everyone else but we’re in a strong position and have a committed, innovative team that will continue to drive the business forward.”

The bakery celebrates its 60th anniversary this year and Pearce added: “We are confident that by sticking to what we know best we will be able to use our anniversary to springboard us towards another 60 years. The new premises shows our commitment to maintaining and creating secure local jobs both now and in the future.”

Rowe’s has a programme of community initiatives planned as part of its anniversary celebrations, including projects with local schools and colleges. The bakery has also commissioned a new logo to sit alongside its usual design on packaging, advertising and point of sale materials throughout the year. The design, created by Helston design agency Taylor Biddle, features the strapline ‘freshly baked for 60 years’.
