The speakers have been announced for a special seminar at the Health & Wellbeing Innovation Centre next month, focusing on mental health in the workplace.

The Mental Health Foundation website states “1 in 4 people will experience some kind of mental health problem in the course of a year”, so the likelihood of a mental health issue arising in the workplace is high.

This free event on November 4 is aimed at providing information and local contacts that can support business managers/owners handle the issue with confidence.

Throughout the morning there will be a selection of guest speakers: Kate Watson (Employment lawyer) and Kathryn Miller (HR Professional) discussing employment law and HR implications, peer success stories with Tim Cocks from Active Plus and looking at the effects of illness on mental health including the mental health of families and friends of those affected by illness presented by Amanda Barlow from Spiezia Organics & founder of the Made for Life Foundation.

A networking lunch will be provided where you will also find various supportive organisations with literature you may want to take away to create a personal ‘tool kit’ of contacts and solutions for future reference.

Places are free of charge but limited, so please contact hwicevents@plymouth.ac.uk or 01872 330030 to book your space.
