Since opening in Penzance a year ago, The Workbox has grown quickly and now has over 40 members. It has also helped launch 25 new businesses and create 30 jobs.

Workbox director Tim Dwelly said: “We have achieved so much in the first year. We have a great mix of businesses and freelancers based here.

“We are not just offering workspace but fantastic meetings rooms, great coffee and the best video conferencing facility in west Cornwall. Members are using this to contact clients and partners not only in Cornwall but across the whole world.”

Businesses based at the Workbox include a deepwater surveying company, a wedding planner, a UK premier league football trials agency, environmental consultants, a music academy, architects, a healthy soup company, renewable energy consultants, IT support specialists and graphic/web designers.

Dwelly added: “I think we’ve created the right kind of atmosphere for businesses to thrive here and avoid the isolation of daily home working.”

The first anniversary party and open night takes place on Friday, June 20, from 6pm, when there will be live music with top local DJs and refreshments.

There will also be a chance to have a look around the £250k investment.
