Entrepreneurs across Cornwall are being invited to get involved in Start-up Cornwall as part of Cornwall Business Week.

Hosted by a partnership of organisations including South West Investment Group (SWIG), Francis Clark, Outset Cornwall and Oxford Innovation, the free event takes place on Tuesday May 14 at the Lighthouse Cinema in Newquay between 2pm and 4pm.

A panel of industry experts will be sharing real world knowledge and advice to would be entrepreneurs from across the Duchy.

John Peters, fund manager for SWIG, said: “We are really excited to be able to stage this event immediately following the Finance in Cornwall seminar organised by Francis Clark.

“Cornwall has always been a hot bed of creative and talented people but often they don’t know where to go to get their ideas off the ground.

“Start up Cornwall will enable anyone with a spark of an idea to come along and meet people that can help turn that idea into a thriving and successful business.”

Chris Hassall from Outset Cornwall who provides support to new businesses, added: “It’s very daunting going it alone.

“This event will enable you to meet peers and business mentors in a relaxed and fun environment and to discuss ideas to help you on your journey.

“If you are thinking about starting up a business or have always wanted to then this event is definitely for you.”

Chris Philips from Unlocking Potential will also be at the event, talking about a programme to support graduate business start-ups.
