The Environment and Sustainability Institute (ESI) is holding a free introductory event next month to explain some of the opportunities open for local businesses.

ESI, which is based at Tremough, is a research centre working with businesses in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Its aim is to translate research and expertise into innovative business practices, products and services to help build a competitive economy for the region.

ESI broadly covers three research themes – clean technology, natural environment and social science and sustainability.

The institute’s ‘Knowledge Exchange Team’ will be hosting the event on November 7 at Alverton Manor in Truro. The event is free and open to all businesses, but ESI is particularly interested in working with SMEs, charities, social enterprises and community groups that have an interest in:

  • Clean technologies including: renewable energy (marine, heat) and energy control systems
  • Sustainable mining and constructions
  • Biodiversity and land use management
  • Environmental goods and services provision
  • Policy and regulation
  • Behavioural change

To book a place, email Colette Defoe by November 2.
