This year’s Royal Cornwall Show attracted its second-highest total of visitors in its history.

The three-day event, which ended on Saturday, drew 127,388 people through the gates. This has only ever been bettered in 2008, which saw crowds of just over 129,000.

Organisers were particularly pleased by the numbers considering the poor weather forecasts and some rain on the first two days.

Show secretary Christopher Riddle said: “It is good for Cornwall – and the region – that the show enjoys support from all sectors of the community – and from groups and individuals from a wide area of the south west and beyond.

“Putting the show together is a big team effort and everyone who has contributed deserves great thanks.”

Next year’s show runs from June 7-9.
