Organisers of the second annual St Ives Food and Drink Festival have announced the new dates for the 2011 event and believe this year’s Festival will be ‘bigger and better’.

This year’s festival will take place across the town from May 16-22, with more events and a different location for both the cooking demonstrations and the food and drink producers event over the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, May 21 and 22.

One of the event organisers, Graham Buckley of Mercury PR, said: “The feedback we have received from last year’s event was extremely positive – all of the events held during the week were extremely well attended or completely sold out and could have been several times, the cooking demonstrations were a great success on West Pier and the food and drink producers market had over 4000 people come through the doors.

The goal with this year’s Food and Drink Festival will be to make it bigger and better with more events during the week for people to enjoy.

“We are busy working on the final itinerary and want to hear from any businesses in St Ives itself and from across Cornwall that wants to be a part of this year’s event.”

Sponsors have already come forward to support this year’s event, including Aspects Holidays of St Ives, and wine company Isla Negra, which is launching a UK-wide Inspired by the Coast campaign beginning with the St Ives Food and Drink Festival.

Damian Sargent of Aspects Holiday’s, which was also a sponsor of last year’s festival, commented: “Last year’s event was a resounding success and we are delighted to be able to provide our support as a sponsor yet again. We have already had lots of enquiries from people across the UK wanting to visit the town to coincide with this year’s Food and Drink Festival which is fantastic and with the changes to this year’s event we believe it can only get better again and we are really looking forward to it.”
