Cornwall-based legal firm Stephens Scown has announced its support today for the ‘Fowey Classics’ annual sailing event taking place again later this year.

The company, which has offices in St Austell and Truro, has committed to sponsoring the festival for the fifth year in succession, between August 3-6 in the historic port of Fowey.

Staff from the firm host a drinks reception for invited guests in the town to celebrate the start of the classic boat rally each year – an annual gathering of a fleet of vintage and modern classic sailing boats, ranging from 12 feet to 12 tons or more in size.

This year Fowey Classics will incorporate the start of the offshore and coastal race the Coupe des Trois Phares for the first time – this event is held once every ten years off the Atlantic coasts of France.

Phil Reed, partner and team leader at Stephens Scown in St Austell, said: “We very much look forward to sponsoring this superb event again this year. Participants and visitors to the beautiful town of Fowey will be able to enjoy the gathering in stunning surroundings and as a firm, we are proud to be involved. There is much excitement this year about the event with the addition of the start of the Coupe des Trois Phares. It’s certainly promising to be an exciting and enjoyable rally and we hope a good turn-out.”

Stephens Scown’s corporate branding will also be included on Fowey Classics race marks throughout the estuary.
