BUSINESS owners from across Cornwall can receive an hour of free, intensive and confidential business and training support to lift them to the next stage of their development in a series of events being held throughout the county.

Staged jointly by Business Link and Train to Gain, which is funded by the Learning Skills Council and delivered by Business Link in the South West, the Tuesday Power Hours are designed to give small and medium-sized businesses a greater focus on their needs. Companies will come away from their 60-minute sessions with a unique action plan tailored to their requirements which will help them reach their potential.

The Tuesday Power Hour events take place every two weeks until late October at locations across Cornwall.

Business Link, the Government’s business advice organisation, and Train to Gain, the Government service that matches businesses’ training needs with the most relevant training solutions, staged a similar series of events in North Devon earlier this year. Their success prompted the two organisations to team up again to bring their sound and impartial advice to businesses in Cornwall.

Each Tuesday Power Hour event lasts from 9.30am to 5.30pm in a conveniently central location. Firms can book an hour session – made up of 30 minutes of business help from a Business Link adviser and 30 minutes of training advice from a Train to Gain skills broker – in advance.

All sessions are conducted on a one-to-one, confidential basis. There will also be informal drop-in clinics at each event for businesses to get advice from both organisations.

Train to Gain skills broker Sam Snowdon said: “Companies attending will get two, half-hour sessions of quite intense business and training advice relevant to their own organisation.

“We can cover a lot of ground in an hour and really focus on what businesses need. At the end of the sessions they will have a thorough business and training plan to take them to the next stage of their development and to help them fulfil their potential.”

Tuesday Power Hour events are open to start-up and established businesses from all sectors.

Business Link in the South West is funded by the South West of England Regional Development Agency. Train to Gain is funded by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) and delivered across the South West by Business Link.
