The region’s leading provider of information, advice and guidance services for young people, CSW Group, has been awarded with the Government’s Cyber Essentials certificate.

Cyber Essentials is a Government-backed, industry supported scheme that helps organisations protect themselves against cyber attacks.

The Company, based in Launceston, successfully met the Cyber Essentials criteria and has proved it has implemented the controls mandated by the scheme.

Alan Calder, founder and executive chairman of IT Governance, stated: “I am pleased to congratulate CSW on their successful certification to Cyber Essentials. It is a well-deserved recognition that the Company takes cyber security seriously, and an example that should be followed by every company in the UK.”

Paul Hobson, CEO of CSW, said: “I’m delighted with this recognition, it’s a great achievement especially as we are one of the very few organisations to hold the Cyber Essentials certificate here in the South West”;  he added, “It proves we are at the cutting edge of cyber security and confident about ensuring data security of our customers across Cornwall.”

Since October 2014, UK organisations bidding for Government contracts that involve the handling of sensitive and personal information; and the provision of certain technical products and services have been required to prove compliance with Cyber Essentials or Cyber Essentials Plus, depending on specific requirements.
