4G arrives in Cornwall

Saltash has become the 250th town in the UK – and the first in Cornwall – to be connected to 4G mobile broadband.

Mobile operator, EE, switched the signal on today, enabling mobile internet speeds five times faster than 3G.

EE’s regional manager for the south west, Fred Maisey, said: “I’m delighted that EE’s 250th 4G town is here in the south west, and the very first in Cornwall.

“As the rollout of the new technology continues, thousands of residents and businesses in Cornwall will be able to benefit from a world-class mobile internet connection on the UK’s biggest, fastest and most reliable network.”

Sheryll Murray, MP for south east Cornwall, added: “The arrival of EE’s 4G mobile services in Saltash will be great news for local businesses and residents. Now the latest generation of mobile technology has arrived, Saltash is an area where it is even more attractive to live, to work and to do business. The arrival of 4G makes this part of Cornwall one of the best connected areas in the UK.”
