A local entrepreneur has been given the chance to work on Compare the Market’s renowned meerkat campaign – if she can gather enough support to win a public vote.
Clemi Hardie, who set up the Noodle Marketing consultancy in Falmouth earlier this year, saw off tough competition from across the UK to make it to the final six in a contest to find the next ambassador of Meerkovo. Now she and the other contestants must campaign to collect the highest number of online votes in a two-week period.
If successful, she will win a six-month contract to work on the campaign, which involves educating people about the difference between comparethemeerkat.com and comparethemarket.com.
The finalists will all be doing everything they can to attract attention in the coming weeks, but Hardie hopes her creative approach will help her stand out.
She said: “I’ll be running a spoof political campaign that plays on everything we’re used to seeing during an election. From the hard-hitting slogans to the carefully staged interviews, I’ve really gone to town to recreate the political vibe. I hope people will appreciate my tongue-in-cheek sense of humour.”
Voting takes place online from May 10-22. Anyone wishing to vote and show their support for Cornwall’s competitor should visit click here.
