Due to overwhelming demand, Business Link has added additional dates to its free-to-attend workshops on online marketing and social media – in Cornwall, Devon and Somerset.

Business Link’s Robert Pickstone said: “We’ve already run 13 of these events over the last few months, and the way they’ve been received by attendees has been nothing short of remarkable. All the events were fully booked, totalling over 400 people.

“Of these, around 95% said that the presenter’s skills and knowledge were either exceptional or very good. With a response like that, we’ve had no hesitation in staging some additional dates to give more people the opportunity to find out what they need to know.”

The new dates are:

● Devon: 11 August at the Barnstaple Hotel, Barnstaple

● Cornwall: 14 September at the Bedtruthan Steps Hotel, Mawgan Porth

● Somerset: 29 September at Somerset Country Cricket Club, Taunton

All events kick off at 9.15. The morning session covers how to use social media to benefit your business, including sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin.

In the afternoon, attention switches to online marketing, covering what makes an effective website, improvement strategies, promoting your business and more. Businesses can attend either session or both free sessions, but places are limited so you are recommended to contact Business Link as soon as possible by calling 0845 600 0966 or emailing enquiries@blpeninsula.co.uk.

The much-praised presenter is Aren Grimshaw, marketing director of Camborne-based digital marketing agency Tonick Media, publisher Business Cornwall magazine. An acknowledged social media expert, Grimshaw’s role is to explain the benefits of using new and emerging technologies as a route to build stronger relationships with current and prospective customer groups, the wider community and stakeholders.

These are just some of the marketing-oriented workshops that Business Link is running over the summer and early autumn. “How to improve your marketing – an action plan” is a highly informative and practical session run by marketing guru Russell Crisp, chairman and chief executive of the Exeter-based Crisp Group.

Focusing on creating and implementing an action plan for better customer relationships and more cost-efficient and effective marketing, these free half-day sessions are set to take place at:

● Devon: 28 July, Novotel, Plymouth

● Cornwall: 9 September, Alverton Manor Hotel, Truro

● Somerset: 23 September, Haynes International Motor Museum, Yeovil.

All events run from 9.15 to 13.00, and early booking is again recommended.
