A St Ives-based interior designer is celebrating her most successful year yet, as the completion of two major projects coincides with a boost in national profile.

Kerry Knight of Beatengreen Design has transformed two properties in prime St Ives locations while her own home, April Cottage in St Erth, is featured in the Christmas edition of Period Living as an example of a modern yet sensitive renovation of an older property.

Since launching her business in 2008, Knight has established a reputation for eye-catching interiors which stand out in the competitive St Ives holiday let market.

Her latest projects are Marchbourne on Clodgy View, which enjoys stunning views over Porthmeor Beach and is let through Carbis Bay Holidays, and The Briefing Room – a Cottage Boutique property in the heart of town.

She said: “Both projects involved careful consideration of the best use of space, and I worked closely with architects and building contractors. They used their experience to recommend and implement structural changes, including moving staircases, constructing impressive entrance halls and erecting mezzanine floors, while I oversaw the internal fixtures and fittings.”

Knight’s talent for cohesive overall design, and her eye for quirky detail, have also been put to work on her granite cottage in St Erth, where low ceilings, original floorboards and exposed brickwork lend themselves to a muted palette, reclaimed furniture and traditional fittings.

She said: “I was thrilled when I heard that April Cottage would feature in the festive issue of Period Living, despite still being a work in progress! The coverage will be a great edition to my portfolio. 2017 has been hugely successful for Beatengreen, and I am lucky enough to have some really exciting projects already lined up for next year.”
