A Truro-based event management company has two reasons to celebrate by gaining a British environmental standard and launching a new website.

Event Cornwall has achieved BS8901, a sustainability standard developed specifically for the events industry.

The standard has been awarded in recognition of a number of sustainability practices employed by Event Cornwall.

Working across all aspects of the triple bottom line, the company has reduced its environmental impact by recycling over 65% of its waste; produced events that have involved over 200,000 people; and had a direct economic impact of over £250k.

Director Claire Eason-Bassett said: “Ensuring we are working as sustainably as possible is deep-seated in the culture of our company.

“Our practices run throughout the business, how we work as a team, the events we deliver and the suppliers we use.

“We hope that the BS8901 standard will support us in winning more competitive tenders but most importantly help raise the bar for sustainability with the events industry.”

In the same week, Event Cornwall also launched its new website, which showcases its clients and project portfolio as well as serving as a key information point for upcoming events.

The website was developed by fellow Truro-based marketing and graphic design agency MPAD, working with Redfuse Internet, following a competitive tender process.
